This is the online home of the Despair Faction and the official AFI message board! We took the best parts of the old site and rolled them together with the AFI message board to produce a single, unified AFI fan community for the Despair Faction and AFI fans worldwide.

DF members, your lifetime DF membership is still active! You just need to transfer your information from the old system to the new one. First, click here to register for the message board.

To join the Despair Faction or participate in the message board community, you need to register with us. Registration is a short process; please click here to begin. If you do not wish to register at this time, you may view the forums by clicking here.


The Despair Faction is AFI's official fan club. The purpose of the DF is to give back to those who have demonstrated a true understanding of, and devotion to, AFI. Lifetime membership means:
  • Member package and the exclusive, DF-only store
  • Exclusive and premier video and audio
  • Special events such as meet & greets
  • Photo galleries and a direct line to and from the band
  • Under the Rose, the official AFI magazine, free of charge
  • Private forums and dozens of exclusive board features
